In Tangerine, there was a sinkhole. When I first read Tangerine, I had a bit of trouble picturing what the sinkhole that happened at Lake Windsor Middle School would look like. I knew that it was a hole opening up in the ground, but how big was it, what made it happen exactly? After I reread the book after I did all of this research on sinkholes, I better understood the scene on page 79 & 80. The sinkhole could have been any size, so I had to picture that in my mind, but I understood at last what actually happened to the ground. It just collapses. The sinkhole happened because of what Old Charley Burns did. I hope that you also have a better understanding of the sinkhole.
